The number of bloggers is increasing evey single day, and the same thing goes for the information in the net.
According to wordometers.com, there are over 3 millions blog posts written every single day. Unbelivable!
It might seems a scary number to start off your blog or because maybe you’re saying there’s a lot of competetion. I’m telling you it’s just a story, an excuse.
Everyone has a gift to offer to this world. We are all here to contribute and help each other.
We don’t want to just blog. We want to be a successful bloggers.Right!
In fact, a lot of bloggers quit because they tought that it’s an easy way to make money. It’s possible to make money online (anything is possible).
But first you have to build the skills, you have to build an audience, trust, credibility. Those are the main ingredients to create a long term profitable blog.
How do you become a successful blogger?
First, you have to ask yourself questions. Asking questions is one the traits of successful people.
- Why do you want to start blogging?
- What excites about blogging?
- What are your motivation about blogging?
For me that is the foundation. You need to have strong whys before you start blogging Otherwise, if a challenge occurs, you’ll get easily behind the curve, and sure enough you’ll give up.
So, let’s explore what it takes to become a successful blogger:
1.Make sure your passion is profitable
Once you figured out your passion, and what you enjoy doing, you have to make sure that their is some demand online.
Even if your content is fascinating, if it doesn’t appeal others, no one will follow, or buy your products.
So, do some research, to get an idea first, before you jump into the niche that you want to invest in.
For instance, you can use those 3 tools to do your basic research:
- Google trends, to get the average volume of searched keywords over time.
- Adwords to get the number of searched keywords per month.
- You can use also Pinterest search bar to get the most searchable keywords
2.Learn and master SEO.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. You need to optimize your blog and your content for search engines to stand in the top results.
Even if you have the best content in the world, if you blog is not keyword optimized, chances are tiny to get seen in search results.
Ranking in Google is determined by two majors factors: On-page optimization, and off page optimization.
One page optimization consits of optimazing your content for meta description, load speed of pages, and keywords that you want to rank for.
In other hand, off-page optimization of the quality and the numbers of links that are pointing back to your blog.
3.Create High-quality content
Content is king. No doubt about it.
Perhaps is one the main element to any successful blog.
When it comes to writing your content, you need to have a catchy headline that evokes emotions in your readers very important.
You can use Coschedule headline analyzer to craft killer headlines, and make them irresistable to click on.
Study shows that 80% of people will read your headline and 20% of them will read your content.
Also, crafting high quality content will help you improve your audience engagement. (See the 6th tip: Understanding Your Audience, And Engaging Them.)
4.Monetize your blog
Once you have set up your blog, and starting to get traffic, you need to monetize it.
They are dozen ways to make money from your blog. It can be done through affiliate marketing, coaching, selling digital products, sellings ebooks, ads, the choice is up to you.
Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing.
As a blogger, you include links to a product or service offered through another business’s affiliate program. If one of your visitors clicks on that link and purchases the good or service, you will earn a commission.
If you choose to join an affiliate program, it’s always a good idea to:
- Only promote products relevant to your niche.
- Only promote products you’ve personally used and recommend.
- Include a disclaimer on your site as to not mislead your readers (like I do here).
So how do you get involved in affiliate marketing? You can start by joining a popular program such as:
Some people create a self-hosted blog solely for ads and Google AdSense is one of the most popular ad networks around.
Simply put, you make money by displaying ads on your site. There are two ways to start earning cash from Google AdSense:
- Based on impressions: This depends on page views. For instance, for every 1,000 page views you get, you earn a set dollar amount.
- Based on clicks: Regardless of page views, if a visitor clicks on the ad from your site, you’ll earn a certain cut of the ad revenue. This can range anywhere from $0.01 to a couple of dollars depending on the ad.
3.Course and/or Services
If you’re already teaching your visitors through your blog, why not create an exclusive learning opportunity by building a paid online course?
A common way to sell these courses is by setting up an 8-week course through automated email messages or releasing the full package all at once so students can work at their own pace. Just some examples of online courses include:
- Audience Business Masterclass (from Firepole Marketing)
- Article Writing Masterclass (by Carol Tice and Linda Formichelli)
- Social Media Training for Serious Marketers (from Market Motive)
How much can you make selling eCourse memberships? This all depends on how much you sell it for and how many people are willing to purchase the course.
Like courses, you can also offer services. For example, many bloggers are also freelance writers, and they get paid to write blog content for other people.
4.Consulting or Coaching
Consulting is another popular way to make money through your blog’s traffic. With these services, you charge a fee to give feedback to readers. For example, let’s say you blog about social media.
You could charge $75 for a one-hour Skype session where you discuss your client’s social media strategy. Along with the Skype call, you might send a full written report via email on how to improve that strategy.
5.Paid Reviews and/or Banner-ads
If you’re generating a decent amount of traffic, you might be approached by a business looking to sponsor your site. There are usually two requests you get in these cases:
- Paid reviews or sponsorship posts
- Banner ads
Writing eBooks is a super popular way to start selling a unique product in your industry, and it’s ideal for pretty much any niche.
With so many self-publishing opportunities available, too, it’s easy to get your book published and ready to sell with major retailers like Amazon or directly on your site.
My advice is not to go all in. Learn and master one thing, once you get successful with it, then move on to next business model
Invest in a course first, learn from other successful bloggers, and apply what you’ve learned immediately. Don’t reinvent the well.
Also don’t make your monetization effort visible to readers. One the common mistakes that beginner bloggers do they overuse adverting by using a lot of ad banners for example their posts
Consistency is the another key element to become a successful blogger. This tip is also very helpful for the new bloggers as this is a basic rule of blogging.
Therefore, at whatever stage you are or it does not matter how many followers you have, just keep in mind to be consistent.
That consistency doesn’t just apply to when you should post your content. It’s also apply on how your write your content.
Be consistent with your content. And, not just when you post it, but the style you write it in, too.
Give your audience something to expect, and a style that feels like ‘home’ when they read it. The more familiar and consistent it is, the more likely they are to return.
How to Build Up Your Momentum to Publish Consistent Content?
So, how can you actually create more consistent content? It boils down to a few things:
- Understand why you’d actually like to create more content.
- Plan your publishing momentum.
- Execute the plan.
6.Understanding Your Audience, And Engaging Them.
Constantly surveying and asking your audience what they want, how they want it, and when they want it, is very important to develop the trust, and credibility that you need to be a successful blogger.
How to boost your engagement?
Tip #1: You have to understand your audience and how you can help them.
The basic question that you have to ask: My blog helps ____ who ________.
Once you’ve answered this question you can move on to creating personas for your target audience.
A persona is just a profile of your ideal reader where you’ll answer other questions about your broad topics.
Tip #2: Write killer headlines
As I covered earlier, headlines are very important to appeal attention’s readers to stay longer in site.
But you have to understand that your headline must deliver a promise. Why?
If your content doesn’t deliver on the promise your headline makes, sure, you may get plenty of traffic but chances are you’ll have the wrong traffic.
Tip #3: Use different type of content
There is lot more that you can publish other than straight up blog posts. This includes:
Just by varying the content you publish, you can get some great results but when you repurpose that content into other types, you can take engagement and visibility to new heights.
Tip #4: Ask questions
You could ask questions in the emails you send to your subscribers or you could ask questions at the end of blog posts.
Where and when you choose to ask questions depends entirely on what your goal is with your content.
For example, on some posts you may prefer to not ask a question and encourage your readers to take action on a particular piece of advice instead.
Tip #5: Respond to comments
If you’re serious about engagement, responding to comments is critical to better engagement.
It can help you get to know your readers better and start building a more significant connection with them. You’ll likely get some helpful feedback too.
7.Focus on one winning social media platform
There are simply too many social media platforms to choose from these days and if you are worried about which one to go with, you should just focus on one social media platform.
Social media marketing strategies of most businesses fail because they scatter all their resources on every social media platform.
Just pick one. Pick one social media network that you think you can win at and focus 90% of your energy there.
In The One Thing by Gary Keller, he shares a quote from Andrew Carnegie (the second richest man in history). “‘Don’t put all your eggs in one basket’ is wrong. I tell you ‘put all your eggs in one basket, and then watch that basket.’” Carnegie goes on to say that it’s much easier to carry (and not drop) one basket than many.
In 80/20 Sales and Marketing, author Perry Marshall shows how almost everything in life can be translated into a power curve.
In a power curve, results build on each other until tiny, incremental growth turns into a meteoric rise.
how do you choose the right social media network?
Tip #1: Play to your strengths.
Winning at social media means creating great content.
If you love photography and getting every image right, Instagram and Pinterest make sense.
Love being in front of the camera? Focus on You Tube.
You may need to play around with several different platforms to see where content creation feels the most natural, and that’s ok.
But once you know your strengths, you’ll be able to focus on one social platform and really try to crush it.
Tip #2: Go where your customers are.
Take some time to think about which platform your ideal customer is using and what they are using it for. That’s most likely where you should be.
Tip #3: Decide where you’ll most enjoy spending your time.
When you naturally want to be spending your time on a social media platform, you’ll be more likely to put in the work needed for success.
For me, I found Pinterest is a winning platform, because it’s easy to get a lot of organic traffic from it due to their powerful algorithms and how its structured.
I get more traffic since I started using Pinterest, something that I struggled with other social media platform.
Also, I love designing and create digital graphics, so Pinterest is a good fit for me to spend more time on.

The bottom line is to focus on one platform and go deep with it, so you can set things up effectively and have great results.
8.Grow your Email list
You may even already have an email list, but successful bloggers do much more with their lists than simply send out emails or weekly newsletters when they publish new posts.
An email list is a vital tool to blogging and online business. It helps you acquire site visitors and turn them into regular members of your audience.
It also helps you connect with your audience, something you can do more effectively if you use your email list to segment them.
How do your grown your Email list effectively?
Here are 5 creative ideas for small business owners to grow your email list:
Idea #1: Use a paper sign-up sheet (and let people know what they’re going to receive)

Sending traffic to your homepage won’t give you optimal conversions.
Instead, create a specific landing page that you can send traffic to.
Your landing page must convince readers to give you their email address – there should be no other option on the page.
A few options for creating your landing page include:
Once you’ve created your landing page, you want to ensure it’s getting as much traffic as possible. To do this you could:
- Add links to your social profiles: Your bio link is valuable real estate. Go through every social network you’re active on and replace the bio link with your landing page.
- Include a link in your website navigation: Ensure visitors are only ever one-click away from the landing page by adding a link to your website’s main navigation.
Idea #5: Boost your results with Facebook Ads
By investing some money, you can get in front of your audience quicker than if you have to build your audience from scratch.
The right Facebook ad + the right audience = more subscribers.
And you can see results for less than $5 per day.
One of the best ways to generate email signups from Facebook Ads is through retargeting people who have already visited your website and read your content.

9.Give Away More Than Others
Lots of bloggers and marketers believe that you need to save your best, and most valuable content for your paid content, because it’s stupid to give away your knowledge for free. Wrong!
Stuart Walker, CEO of Nichehacks.com, has seen rapid success over the course of the last few years. In fact, in 2 years alone, he’s managed to build this site to generate more than $80,000 a year.
Why? he gave away all their knowledge for free. The average length of his content is around 3,000 words, and he covers any topic a niche marketer might ever need.
According to Buzzsumo, the more your blog post is longer, the more traffic you will get.
Also according to a study conducted by MOZ that analyzed articles to determine the correlation between social shares and content length, they found:
10. Have a mindset of winners
None of this works if you don’t have a strong mindset. 80% of success is psychology and 20% action.
Having the right mindset is the key piece of the success puzzle and if you don’t generate it, failure is inevitable.
Here are some tips to build a strong mindset:
Tip #1: Believe in yourself
The number one reason why people fail to live up to their potential is that because they don’t believe in themselves.
You have to believe on your capacities, and your skills that you can be reach success with your blog.
If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. So, start believing in yourself for a change!
If you’re doubting yourself, here’s a great motivational video that will help you to phase out those doubts, and believe that you can do it!
Tip #2: Never give up.
Don’t let failure stop you from pursuing your dreams.
The biggest mistake would be to totally give up after failing. Instead use them as your motivation to success.
Understand, that failure is just a milestone of success.
Write down all the reasons why you want to start your business, and put them on wall or on your phone.
Once you feel like you giving up, read those reasons with intensive emotions, and recall yourself why you started.
