Not only it confines us from doing things that matter for us, but it’s also destructive over time.

Other problem about overthinking is we make things bigger that it is, so we build those scary mountains inside our head that cripple us from shaping our destiny.

Also, overanalyzing prevents us from living the present moment which affects in huge way our happiness level, and anxiety, stress, sadness starts to take over our emotions.

How To Overcome Overthinking?

1.Become a person of action

 I believe that knowledge it’s not power. The real power comes from the actions upon the knowledge.

Just reading this blog, and consuming the information will not make any difference.

But if you use this knowledge, and take action from it, that’s when results will start to flourish in your life.

Overthinking is the root of procrastination. The more your think, the more give yourself a permission to step back.

To avoid getting into this trap, just take immediately the decision to do it, before doubts starts to flow in your mind, and become frightening.

 

2.Plan your day the night before.

One of the best way to set yourself up in the right track and protect yourself from all kind of distractions is planning your day.

I found that it is very helpful to avoid overthinking.

The reason is when you are distracted by someone or something, and saying yes to other’s requests for example, you start to dig into your brain’s willpower, trying to solve problems and thinking too much which causes emotions turmoil.

So before you go to bed, make a list of things that matters to you for tomorrow, the people to meet with, and what you’ll notice is that clarity start to take place in your mind which brings peace, and joyful emotions.

 

3.Set your day up out of distractions

I believe that how you start your day, determine how you’ll end it.

Instead of picking up your phone and checking your Facebook feed once you wake up, do something different that can make you focused, and out of distractions.

You can for example start implanting some new habits like: meditation, planning out your day, walking, etc…, and once you’ve accustomed with those new behaviors, your thoughts become sharper and crystal-clear.

4.You cannot control everything

Thinking through things many times trying to make them perfect or don’t risk to step up on some key decisions in your life can be a huge source of overthinking, which yield to a lot of stress.

My thought on this is don’t live to much in your head, and just do it. It’s simple.

One of the main reason that cripple us on this non ending thinking loop is worrying to fail or make mistakes. In a nutshell, it’s fear.

Everyone makes mistakes even successful people does. The difference is how we look at failure.

In order to overcome this, instead of beating yourself up, shift your perspective and look at failure as a feedback, because if you do, you’ll free yourself from your fears, and you’ll be prone to take action.

5.Be in the present moment

Living in the present moment is the ultimate remedy of overthinking.

Being in the past or the future will not fix things up. Instead draw back you mind in the here and now whenever you caught yourself dwelling on the past or in the future.

Meditation is the key. Set some minutes throughout the day to breath, and calm your mind. One you start it, you’ll notice an army of thoughts will come up while your mediating and be OK with it.

Let them go as a clouds flowing in the sky and just be the observer. Don’t try control them.

The more you do the exercise, the more you’ll detach yourself from those thoughts, and you’ll feel a flow of positive energy start to take place in your soul.
